Julius Cesar Guimaraes & Amélia Guimaraes
Julius Cesar Guimarães, an electrical engineer, and Amélia Guimarães, a civil engineer, met while working on major shopping mall projects such as West Plaza, Paulista, and Aricanduva. Both were part of a renowned construction company in São Paulo.
In time, Amélia decided to leave the construction industry. Tired of working nights, holidays, and weekends, she opened a home decor shop. With great care, dedication, and her natural eye for design, the shop grew rapidly and became a local landmark.
A few years later, our eldest son was about to graduate in gastronomy. At the time, I was working as a maintenance manager at one of the capital's largest malls and decided to open a restaurant at the back of the decor shop. We wanted something different, so we chose a unique concept: a restaurant specializing in river fish, such as tambaqui, pirarucu, pintado, and filhote.
Our son graduated but soon followed a different path, so we embraced the restaurant as a new challenge. We worked hard, learned about business, gastronomy, and management, and through trial and error, Espaço Tambiú earned its place in São Paulo’s culinary scene.
Eventually, I retired as an engineer, and Amélia began to focus even more on the restaurant. The decor shop took a backseat, and Tambiú became the family’s 'Plan A. We expanded our menu to include saltwater fish, seafood, and shellfish, and Tambiú has been growing every year since.
The secret? There isn't one. Just dedication, hard work, and a constant desire to offer the best possible experience to our customers, who often become friends and cheer for our success.
Today, Espaço Tambiú is a place of joy, where we strive to provide special moments through attentive service, distinctive cuisine, and high-level musical performances.
